OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION: A meditation upon death. Inspired upon William Cullen Bryant's poem. A deep solemn earthen scent containing pine, juniper and musk.

BEFORE I SMELL: I have never though that death smelled like a pine forest.

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: Pine and Juniper, just like the essential oils.

WET ON SKIN: All pine all the way.. I am sorry Thanatopsis but you remind me of an air freshener...

DRY DOWN: The musk give to this a perfumy vibe and the dry down is a tad sweeter. It's quite masculine but it will be worn by women as well for a pick me up scent especially if you are not a mprning person pine and juniper may help you wake.

It's very atmospheric. If I close my eyes and smell this I feel like I am in a pine forest with snow all around me

BPAL- WINTER HEAVENS

We are in the heart of winter and finally we have cold days here in Greece.

I haven't reviewed any Yule blend this year and today I have just realized that Friday it's the last day that I can buy Yule blends from the Bpal. I can afford only 4 and my list is: Go to Sleep, Darlings, La befana, Le Pere fouettard and for the last one I am between Butter Rum Cookie and Braving the Ice. Which one you think that it will be best?

Anyway I have some sniffies from 2011 and I chose one at random

PERFUME: WINTER HEAVENS

COMPANY: BPAL

AVAILABILITY: 2011 YULE

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION:Black midnight winter skies glittering with points of light: chill air, champaca flower, white musk, fir needle, papyrus reeds, and grey amber

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: Lab's snow note and fir. It is a little bit like fabric softener maybe it's the musk in combination with the snow note that gives that impression.

WET ON SKIN: Musky fir, this would be amazing on a guy!

As the time goes by, it gets sweeter and I can smell a floral note. I am guessing it's the champaca but I think I smell plumeria as well.

DRY DOWN: The fir is subtle now but noticeable. It remains musky and cold.

The dry down is like clean skin so if you don't like soap in your perfume you won't like that.

FINAL THOUGHTS: I am not sorry that I didn't get a bottle of this. I don't hate it but a lot of snow perfumes smell similar on me and I have already one or two in my collection.

It would be suitable for everyday use for someone who has to wear subtle perfumes to work.

BPAL-GROG

PERFUME: GROG

COMPANY: BPAL

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION:Arrr! Avast ye, matey! This be the scent of pirate rum!

BEFORE I SMELL: I didn't know what GROG meant when I received this. However, Bpal's description says it all the scent of pirate rum!

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: Butter and rum. The vanilla note it's a little bit on the plastic side so, if you tend to amp “plastic” this one isn't for you. I also smell something like banana cream.

WET ON SKIN: This reminds me of eggnog but less spicy. On skin it's more buttery with a heavy shot of vanilla. It's warm and foodie but a little bit one dimensional. It would be great for layering purposes . To me it's not that boozy but more of a caramel foodie scent

DRY DOWN: This has a good staying power, three hours later I can still smell it but what's left it's more of a general sugary scent.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Nice but not amazing. I really want to taste the actual drink thought!

BPAL-JEZEBEL

Hi!

I know it's been almost two months since my last post.. The truth is I am spending a lot of time with my boyfriend and my dog doing everyday stuff like cooking and watching TV series, I loved orange is the new black and I am watching COVEN too!

We also joined the gym and it's a lot of fun working out with my boyfriend!

I haven't bought a lot of perfumes but I did order some Halloween scents from Possets and Bpal. What is more I got some lipsticks from Punk Couture collection by MAC. I do love some good black lipstick:)

Now, I want to continue with my mini reviews! My goal is to revisit my General Catalog scents. I feel like I'm neglecting them..

PERFUME: JEZEBEL

COMPANY: BPAL

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION:Biblical witch, priestess of Astarte, and general troublemaker. A true role model for today's upwardly mobile Modern Woman. A gloriously decadent blend of honey, roses, orange blossom and sandalwood.

BEFORE I SMELL: Biblical witch and priestess? I love witch themed blends!

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: Sweet and powdery honey. It reminds me the one in Womb Furie. A hint of orange blossom.

WET ON SKIN: Honey and fresh blossoms! The rose isn't overpowering and the orange blossoms give a note of acidity. Like if there was a hint of orange.

Definitely feminine and old fashion I don't think it is for someone who hate powdery scents or honey.

DRY DOWN: It has amazing staying power more than 8 hours on me. The sandalwood comes out more as a base note. It's very sexy ladies. This is one to wear if you want to seduce someone. It would be an amazing bedroom perfume. No wonder why Bpal has listed this one under the Love Potions category!

FINAL THOUGHTS: I need a bottle!
