HALLOWEEN-POSSETS

Happy Halloween!

I am in that part of the world where Halloween isn’t a tradition and every year I say to myself that I will decorate and have some fun but never do… Except from Pumpkin pie I love making and eating Halloween treats! There are some parties going on in the center of Athens but they start after midnight and we have to wake up early. So you guess it my plans for Halloween are to review Halloween from Possets.

This is a seasonal scent that comes live every Halloween and is spooky and mysterious!

Halloween-Back from last year, Halloween is one of the first unabashed outdoor autumn fragrances ever. Incensy, spicy, and manages to capture the width of a dimming blue October sky. Halloween reminded me of suddenly catching yourself thinking about what fun you will have and how the year went for you. This one is beautiful without being cloying and just hits the right notes about Halloween. Resinous, gourmand.

Bottle:  smoke, leaves turning and gingerbread.

Wet:  Smoky but very wearable no harsh notes on that one. It’s like how the air smells when it’s so cold outside that you can feel the smoke for the fireplaces. Hard to describe. Something in that perfume reads to my mind as gingerbread maybe  the  spices?

Dry:  More incense now. I don’t think I am very Helpful but my general impression is: Walking in the streets the afternoon of a very cold day, a lot of houses burning woods to warm up, leaves are falling  and suddenly you find that your local bakery is still open and you take a deep breath of all the yummy stuff before you go home. Yes you need it.

Possets Sicily Order!!!

Hi guys! I know Summer is over but I really wanted to share my impressions of this order with you. Unfortunately, these scents are not longer available but Possets is great and has Retours so if you want something and you missed out fear not!

Etna:  Strong and aromatic, Etna is a powerful blend of grey and crystal musk, a musk I put together which I call 992 and packs a real punch.

Bottle: It reminds me of a tiger balm I have for when I am sick. Another thing that come to mind (and it doesn't mean that it's a bad thing) is a shaving gel that I used as a teenager for shaving my legs. In fact, I believe that it's the memory of the gel that the gel itself and the hours that I used to spend in the bathroom pampering myself.

Wet: Camphor and a hint of spearmint, then amazing musks. It's perfumy and elegant.

Drydown: Slightly medicinal, musky, grown up scent. Medium through and lasting power.

Verdict: This is unique and I am very happy to have it in my collection!

Cannoli:  Deep fried tubes of the lightest crust filled with sweetened ricotta cheese.

Cannoli are my favorite treats when I go to Italy. I wish I could make them home so delicious. So, When I first saw this collection Cannoli was my first WANT!

Bottle: Yeast and fried crust as promisted. Initial snif I am not so fond of how it smells.

Wet:  Mmm it's getting better. Handmade dough. Still I don;t get the cream cheese filling.
To my nose, I almost get a clean note like cucumber. I don't have a clue why it's there but note that yeast scent do weird things to my body chemistry. I am not to Italy yet.

Dry: After more than 15 minutes it's getting closer to the cannoli scent that I have in mind. It's milkier and I am getting whifs of milk chocolate now and then.
High silage and staying power

My sister thinks that this is the best perfume that I have ever bought, and she is very picky!

Verdict: Initialy I thought that this was a fail but after a while it's a nice, cozy foodie blend and I really enjoy it. So glad that the strange note disappeared

Gelato:Blood Orange

Whan I first read the descriptions on the gelato line, I wanted all of them. I' ve decided to go with is one first beause of all the rave reviews.

Bottle: Blood orange and Kumquat. This is LOVE.

Wet: Shour Kumquat and candied blood orange. This is Heaven in the bottle. So glad I bought this.

Dry: My mother makes camdied Kumquat and this is what I am smelling with the lovely gelato note.

Verdict: I want to bath in this:)

Medusa:To celebrate the loveliness which Medusa lost Possets has come up with a coconut fragrance which is latticed throughout with a kiss of olive blossom, a hint of myrtle, and a very small amount of stone

A non foodie coconut! I am sold!

Bottle: Fresh air and coconut flesh. It has a spa like quality due to the olive blossom. Myrtle gives thia a herbal kick and a mediterranean flair.

Wet: Ellusive and pretty, sweet and herbaly. This perfume makes me wanting to explore myrtle more. What a lovely note.

Dry: It doesn't change much. it's  great for everyday if you, like me, love fresh and clean scents.

Summer Favorites!

Hi guys! I know it had been ages since I updated this blog and I really missed blogging and sharing my thoughts so here it goes: Summer Favorites 2014!
This year my Boyfriend and I went to Romania for a summer vacation, so a lot of products are things that I loved during our trip there. We had wonderful time and yes we have visited The Dracula’s castle!

Satsuma body sorbet and Shower gel from the Body Shop
There is not better thing after a long day sightseeing and walking around than to take a shower and then apply cold from the fridge this body sorbet. It’s very refreshing and revitalizing. I really enjoyed it.
I totally recommend it for people who don’t like the greasy-oily feeling that some body lotion and
body butters have.

Tea tree Skin Clearing Toner-The body Shop
In summer my skin tends to be more oily than usual so I picked that up to help me clear my face and I love it! I love the tea tree toner from Lush too but we don’t have a shop here. My bottle is almost over. In fact between the two I may prefer the Body Shop one.

Tecnoskin-Total Beauty Face Cream CC
This was a gift and it totally worked for me. I didn’t know this brand before and I will definitely check them out in the future as well. The consistency is light and it didn’t break me out. The color was perfect for my skin, at first I thought that it would be dark but it adapts to my natural color, not full coverage but it does make the skin glowing and gives an even tone.
I love this because you don’t have to use a lot of products. It’s a moisturizer, a sun block and it has a light color to it as well.

From the website: Due to its multivalent anti-aging factor, it offers anti-aging action reinforcing thus and protecting the ally of firm skin, the collagen. At the same time, it effectively and constantly hydrates making the skin look fresh and renewed. Furthermore, it offers a uniform skin tone and erases any possible imperfections making the skin look radiant. With antioxidant action and sun protection SPF30.

I think it’s a greek company because in the tube it’s written Made in Greece.
If you want you can check them out here: www.tecnoskin-derma.com/en/

Apivita Refreshing Body milk with Fig and Aloe
Another gift from my Mom this time! With 91% natural ingredients this body milk moisturizes very well and sinks in quick. Usually I don’t like figs in perfume or bath and body products but this has a spa like quality and it just smell clean and refreshing so I used it so much this summer it’s almost over!

Korres Blush Stick in Pink
Lately, I have started to wear blush and I love how I look with a little something on my cheeks. This was easy to  wear, suitable for traveling and I got a set with 3 colours for almost 10 euro. You can beat that!

Heroine lipstick-MAC
This is one of my favorite lipsticks for day wear. I am so glad this is permanent because this summer I wore it almost every day!

Perfumes
Brit by Burberry
Another gift! Now you know that I don’t wear designer perfumes because I prefer the handmade perfume oils so , I kept this on my closet. Then, I was in need for something refreshing and fruity after the Satsuma sorbet and I remember it!
Notes (from Sephora):
Italian Lime, Icy Pear, Green Almond, White Peony, Sugared Almonds, Amber, Mahogany, Vanilla, Tonka Bean
On me it’s like a lime and pear sugar candy with a bit of powder underneath. If you want a work friendly pick me up scent this is it.

Bridal Veil by Possets
Orange blossom, neroli, and the scent of silk woven into the most sheer of chiffon.
I love neroli and orange blossoms. Even when I have the real blooms on my hands in the spring I can smell them from hours. They just make me happy!
This perfume has the same effect on me. It’s a simple blend but so well made. One of my favorite Possets perfumes!

HALLOWEEN PERFUMES! Ghost Farts- Possets

PERFUME: Ghost Fart

COMPANY: Possets

AVAILABILITY: Halloween Limited Edition

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION:Oh good grief! It must be a ghost fart! This annual blend is back to haunt us all again. Ethereal, very unusual, and about as easy to explain as spiritual flatulence. Actually, it's real nice stuff and you really should try it, but don't try to explain it. Foody gourmand.

This perfume is one of the most popular blends that Possets has and it appears every Halloween. This is why I really wanted to try it when I was a possets newbie. It has just the most hilarious name ever! I don't really remember from which year my decant is from. I think it's 2010.

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: Cherry, almond and musk.

WET ON SKIN: This goes foodie! Like almond cake. Sadly, it reminds me a cherry syrup that I used when I was a child. When I had first tried it I didn't like it at all, it was too much cherry. Now after some years of aging it's more of the musk and the almonds.

DRY DOWN: It has very good staying power but I just can't get over the cherry syrup comparison in my head.

FINAL THOUGHTS: It's not for me. But I can't only imagine how fun it would be if while I was wearing this someone asks me what perfume I wear!

HALLOWEEN PERFUMES! Pumpkin Face Down In the Gutter

PERFUME:Pumpkin Face Down in the Gutter

COMPANY: Possets

AVAILABILITY: Past Halloween limited edition. I think 2011

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION:Has the pumpkin landed face down in the gutter? Has he reached rock bottom? Judging from the smell of him, he is in deep deep trouble. Pumpkin, black pepper, black cinnamon, sandalwood, tomato leaf. yes, he is beyond the help of any programs no matter how well meaning. He is one of The Beautiful and The Damned.

BEFORE I SMELL: A dirty pumpkin! I am in:)

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: This is atmospheric and very autumnal from the imp. Dirt, tomato leaf, spices and warm pumpkin. The cinnamon is the strongest note but it isn't the foody kind.

WET ON SKIN: Fresh pumpkin flesh and pepper. The tomato leaf it's a beautiful note and very unique with pumpkin. I get the sandalwood too. Actually, I am getting all the notes listed!

DRY DOWN:The spices calm down and I am left with pumpkin and sandalwood. Sometimes this blend can be overpowering to me so I put just a little bit. I love it especially when the weather is starts to chill and it feels like the rain will start in any minute. The scent of the real earth combined with the scent of this perfume it's magical!

FINAL THOUGHTS: I think my poppet is enough for now because I am wearing this for the experience the most. From the other hand, if they have a Retour again and I can afford it I may buy a bottle because it's aging amazing too.

Have you ever tried any weird pumpkin scent?

The Field of Reeds-Possets

PERFUME: The field of Reeds

COMPANY: Possets

AVAILABILITY: Permanent

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION: Relief and relaxation, paradise Egyptian style. Sweet sandalwood and two ambers, a touch of wood for reeds, and a kiss of golden musk, black pepper married with a drop of labdanum and this conjures the eternal happy golden light in which the elect must have bathed every day. A smooth and resinous sweet blend but with enough of the spice kick of a modern perfume to escape being downright primative.

BEFORE I SMELL: The scent of Aaru the Heaven for the Ancient Egyptians. Filled with Reeds which are something like papyrus if I am not mistaken.
This poppet was sent to me as a freeby. Black pepper doesn't always work for me but I am wondering how reeds smell and how Heavenly this is.

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: Black pepper, lots of resins and something slightly medicinal.

WET ON SKIN: The black pepper is very well blended and it doesn't overpower the blend so fear not! The labdanum and the sandalwood are the stars of the show. It's not a green scent, at least on me. It's very woody, unisex and resinous.

DRY DOWN: The musks and the woods are so beautiful when the black pepper eventually goes away. It's almost like this one has a drop of vanilla in it.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Full bottle without a question!

SERAPHIM-POSSETS

SERAPHIM-POSSETS

AVAILABILITY: Available all year round!

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION: Five vanillas (most of them fat and buttery vanillas cut with lean and sharp vanillas) and are blended with six different ambers which give the hypnotic part to the whole.

I bought this unsniffed when it first came out in 2010.  If I remember correctly, Possets had an offer that time when with every two bottles you could get one free  So, I chose this one because how you could go wrong with vanilla and amber?

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: Sweet and buttery vanilla, an alcoholic note and lots of Amber!

WET ON SKIN: This is full of comforting base notes.  I love the buttery French vanilla here which is not sickening sweet but it’s definitely a little bit sugary. The amber gives a perfumy element and makes the perfume deep. It’s like you smell a cat’s neck if she was wearing a perfume lol!

DRY DOWN: I could smell the amber notes all day long and I asked myself Why I don’t wear this more often? Possets amber it’s different from the Bpal’s one but I really like both of them.

FINAL THOUGHTS: If you have one million Vanilla-Amber scents you may want to pass this, but if you don’t and you enjoy that notes try at least a sample. I love that combination  and I layered with an Amber body oil that I had from Crater Lake company. This was more perfumy and it had a floral note as well. The combination worked very well!

IF YOU LIKE THIS YOU WILL LIKE:   Philtre #5 Embrace from Arcana. Not the same scent but the combination of buttery vanilla and amber exist in both of them.

Perfume reviews, a haul, Possets new update and a pic of my dog!

Even though that it feels like Spring, I wore some fall scents the last few days!

Possets-Big Black Cat
Sweet and strong, but full of character, like a majestic big black cat! Buttery creme with a smooth caramel undercoat, bourbon vanilla (the kind with the tiny black specks), gourmet candy corn crushed and put in the mix, and a crust of burnt sugar with a crunch from some indefinable but thoroughly delightful source. All this with a kiss of cinnamon, a very small puff of clove, and one grain of allspice.

This smells like other Halloween scents I have tried. It’s not very unique but if you are looking for a simple sugar and spice blend this is for you.
Burnt sugar and allspice rarely do work on me and this is not an exception. Not a scrubber but not something I would wear.

If you like this you may like as well:
 Possets: Nom Nom Nom
Lots of thick dark sugary goodness here. Just a hint of spice, but it's sort of an indefinable spice like a new and exotic clove which you just can't quite put your finger on. Lashings of liquified brown sugar heat it all up and in the end you have a very hawt melange of foody lovers goodness. Just the thing for Halloween.
Possets: Damn if you do
Brown sugar drenched in a crunchy crust of turbinado sugar, a hint of molasses and a very very light dusting of clove and allspice to keep things from going cloying. This is for the child and gourmand in you. Let yourself indulge in it all and be at least darned.

None of these worked for me. Maybe Sugar hates me.

Possets -Limoncello: La Dolce Vita
Of course, Possets had to celebrate the superb desserts of Italy, and
the South has some of the most ineluctable temptations on the planet.
Neapolitan Lemons spike the Limoncello here, with the most creamy of
panecotta (a triple cream custard with a subtle vanilla and not too
sweet). All this is accompanied by a homemade almond biscotti. Just to
smell the fragrance of all these treasure is to be in Italy with your
love.

I thought this would be a winner but it smells so bad on me I had to wash it away. Limoncello, panecotta and Almond biscotti? No thank you.

BPAL- LE LÈTHÈ

Red musk and sweat-damp golden skin musk with labdanum, golden amber, nutmeg, tobacco absolute, black orchid, and hemlock accord.

This is one of my favourite poems EVER! I was so excited to receive this as a frimp from the Lab!
From the imp I get juicy red musk and Hemlock. Like a less sweet Smut.
On my skin the tobacco absolute is the strongest note.
Lasts 4 to 5 hours on me and I think I have to buy a full bottle soon!
On dry down I get a hint of spiciness from the nutmeg and gorgeous perfumy-floral notes  from the black orchid.
If you like red musk and Tobacco you have to try this.

I sawAmanda’s Arcana Haul from the More tea, Wesley? Blog and she described Cake Lust like  butterscotch cake. The perfume stuck on my head and I had to have it! So I bought it from a person on Bpal forum!

Arcana- Cake Lust
Golden bakery cakes spiked with blonde tobacco, pipe tobacco, Balsam of Peru, cardamom, and mace.

When I first put it on I get cardamom as a top note and a hint of mace( nutmeg).
Then the tobacco becomes more obvious. I love what Arcana does with tobacco and I love when they combine foodie scents with resinous top notes. For the record, Morphine is the Arcana which I love the most!
In a while, I get boozy vanilla like the vanilla they had in their Rich vanilla scent.
This is a morpher. It’s not that spicy  on drydown but more foodie. Grownup and Sexy Foodie. LOVE!!!!

Last but not least, Possets new Spring update is live! The theme is Sacred Geometry. I learned so many new things reading her description and I find this update very original!
If you are into Grapefruit or lime you will scream from joy!

If I had to choose 4 perfumes from this update they would be:

Arc of Venus: Sandalwood , black lavender, a very small hint of calendula, "abstract" musk, and a bit of sharp grey musk

3:5:8: Black musk, smoky vanilla, jasmine, night blooming cereus, incense

Dodecahedron: Green vanilla, nectar, smoke, citrus paradise oil

Arabesque: Madagascar vanilla, Arabian Amber, bamboo citrus

I am also curious about:

Golden Section, it says floral but not what kind of floral. Rose? Jasmine? Sunflower?

Phyllotaxis is ruined for me from the cassia and the spice which can make a blend very spicy for my liking.

Quantum Interconnect is ruined by the black coffee and black tea. I will keep an eye for reviews though.

So, Is anything that you find appealing in this update?

Have a nice weekend!

 My dog!!! Iris!!!!

My perfume Week!

Hi guys! It’s been a week since I update my blog and I thought to share with you how my “perfume” week went.

First of all, I got a lovely package on the mail!
While ago I ordered a bottle from a lovely lady on Live journal. I love Arcana perfumes but sometimes they sold out quickly so if I find a bottle that I want second hand I go for it! She included three more samples and some candies as well.

Arcana-Frivolous aside
A silly, sexy little blend which flirts shamelessly, teases everyone at the party, and flashes the top of its garter on the balcony. Bubbly champagne cocktails, vanilla frosting, deep pink musk, sugar cubes, toasty coconut, and a soft compress for your head the next morning.

When I first put this on it is very bubbly and it remind me Bpal’s Old Man Ackerman's Instructional Toys.
The bubbly top note it’s like when you open a bottle of sprite and you take a deep breath immediately. It stays quite a while on the skin that way and then the foodie notes come to play as well. Butter cream and toasty coconut flakes like the one that you sprinkle on the cake come to my mind and I am already hungry!
Then I get whiffs of pink musk which totally works here.
To me this is a foodie-cake scent for spring or summer. It’s fresh, sweet and yummy at the same time. Delicious!!!

The freebies that I got were:
Bpal-Kubla Khan
Sidhe Creations- Sluagh
Zomg Smells – Lizard Queen

This week I made my first eBay purchase ever! I won a L’artisan gift set with the following 15ml perfumes:

Timbuktu Eau de Toilette 15ml
Fou d’Absinthe Eau de Parfum 15ml
Méchant Loup Eau de Toilette 15ml

I am so excited to receive this but it will take a while till reaches me because I send it to my uncle in the UK and then he will send it to me.
I haven’t tried Timbuktu and Fou d’Absinthe but I love Mechant Loup. They are a little bit on the masculine side so, if they don’t work on me I will give them to my boyfriend.

My perfumes of the day were the regular Possets or Bpal blends, I wore:

Possets Nevada Heat
Nevada, it's HOT. It's exciting and it gets YOU hot! They work at that, and it's a natural phenomenon. Supersweet vanilla grabs a sassy orange/citrus for a fast ride through the desert at sunset. Resins drip into and out of the blend, and a blast of spice comes from nowhere to tie it all together. Heat isn't for everyone, and certainly not for the timid nor for the conformist, unless you really want to have a brief holiday from your hum drum existence. Gives you all the excitement of that last shake before you roll the dice. USA, spicy resin, long lasting.

If you like spicy orange scents you have to try this one! From the bottle I get a creamy sweet orange scent. On the skin I get spices and maybe a hint of patchouli. It’s borderline foodie and it reminds me a kind of Christmas cookies that we made in Greece with cloves, cinnamon and orange juice. I don’t know why I keep thinking of ginger whenever I put this on. It isn’t a listed note.

Bpal- Laudanum
The essence of the most debauched hunger encapsulated into a perfume. Desire beyond love, anguish beyond sanity. Nutmeg, sassafras, black poppy and myrrh.

From the imp get Nutmeg, myrrh and vetiver. Wet it smells like sassafras but it’s very well blended. In that stage it becomes a little bit medicinal but in combination with all the resins it works very well.
I really like this and it reminded me their Midnight Mass scent.
Resinous, medicinal with a hint of spice but not very unique.

Possets-Perpetual Orgasm
The divine honey which the bees make on the dry and craggy plains is the starting point for such a melting blend. Malta is an arid country and the non populated expanses are covered with tough aromatic growth which needs little rainfall. It is in that hard herbal mat that the bees wrestle the tiniest drops of nectar out of sparse light blue flowers and somehow manage to manufacture honey of such brilliance it’s almost as if the sun was captured and liquefied. Added to this is a shard of sharp lemon zest and the smooth modification of orange, both citrus which can be found in abundance in the Mediterranean, and which naturally compliment Maltese honey, and you will have found a paradise in a bottle.

I can’t decide if I want a bottle of this or not. It lasted all day on me and especially on my clothes.  It’s a sweet lemon and orange blend. I don’t get the floral part but as I am thinking about it while I am writing this I get a hint of bluebell. I had a Bluebell fragrance oil for soap making and it smelled soapy and fresh. Very similar to that fresh note in perpetual orgasm. By the way what a lovely name!

Thanks for reading:)

PERFUME: Courtly Love

COMPANY: Possets

AVAILABILITY: Permanent

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION: The slow stately thromb of courtly love as the man adores his lady and shows his love every day. Coconut (here used more as a serious element rather than a novelty) dances with apricot and a light kiss of vanilla and a very sweet, not stinky, jasmine to make a honey-ed note stand out. Swoony nice.

BEFORE I SMELL: I got this as a froppet in a Posset order. I think I asked for Fabienne to include this because coconut, vanilla and Jasmine? YES!

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: Tropical coconut, jasmine and sweet apricot. Imagine apricot marmalade!

WET ON SKIN: Deep and sticky jasmine notes combined with the stickiness of the coconut. This does remind me of a suntan lotion and I am immediately transported to a beautiful beach!

DRY DOWN: I could smell this for at least 5 hours! The vanilla it’s the strongest note on the dry down. To me it’s mainly vanilla-coconut-jasmine.

FINAL THOUGHTS: YES! Definitely bottle worthy!

IF YOU LIKE THIS YOU WILL LIKE:   I really enjoy toasty coconut scents and the scent of a suntan lotion So, I layer this with a body cream from Make Me Smooth in Beach Bunny:

Sweet and creamy, long and lush, the Beachy Bunny scent is so darn fine, it will bring out the Beach Bunny in all of us. Creamy, slightly toasted Coconut (think tanning oil Coconut-mmmmm yum!) smothered in a Marshmallow and Cotton Candy Accord.

Summer came to my house a little bit early!!!

Possets- Silver Roses

PERFUME:  Silver Roses

COMPANY: Possets

AVAILABILITY: Permanent

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION: You have Silver Violets, now you have Silver Roses as well. I have a silver rose pin from the city of Hildesheim in Germany and that really popped into my head before Silver Violets did! Rose, of course, with spun sugar, vanilla, musk and magic. This one will be sticking around at least through St. Valentine's Day and perhaps beyond. Characteristics: Floral, vanilla, charming, scent locket, feminine, home scent, long lasting.

BEFORE I SMELL: This was a froppet from my recent order but I really wanted to try it. I had bad luck with some other sweet roses from Possets like Hathor: Roses and candy, clear as ice and as sweet to the nose as to the tongue. A simple confection of pink rose petals, simple syrup saturated with a sophisticated but delicious vanilla, and a wisp of musk to keep it going on your skin. Guys, I couldn’t stand this perfume AT ALL. Yes it is so bad that I have it in a special box so I will never smell it again! I don’t know which note doesn’t work on me and I thought that it would be the rose. I really want to find out so I can avoid this note in the future.

Another one that didn’t work on me was The romance of the Rose One of the most daring of the Valentine blends, this is a throughly insane pairing of rose and butter and sugar and a drop of light tea. It is one of the strangest and most confusing blends I have ever come up with and it works like mad. Sometimes you feel you have to rebel and run outside the ruts of slender convention, this fragrance is it.
Another Epic FAIL.

So, as you can guess I put it on with a little fear this morning!

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: Sweet roses!

WET ON SKIN: Fresh cut red roses still and a hint of vanilla.

DRY DOWN: While I really like the fresh rosy top note, I love the dry down even more!  It’s sugary and soft. The rose it’s there but not in your face.  The musk and the vanilla make this light and wearable. The sugar here reminds me of a marshmallow!

If rose isn’t my enemy what ruined Hathor and the Romance of the Rose for me?

FINAL THOUGHTS: I really like this. Maybe I will get a bottle in the future.
