BPAL-JEZEBEL

Hi!

I know it's been almost two months since my last post.. The truth is I am spending a lot of time with my boyfriend and my dog doing everyday stuff like cooking and watching TV series, I loved orange is the new black and I am watching COVEN too!

We also joined the gym and it's a lot of fun working out with my boyfriend!

I haven't bought a lot of perfumes but I did order some Halloween scents from Possets and Bpal. What is more I got some lipsticks from Punk Couture collection by MAC. I do love some good black lipstick:)

Now, I want to continue with my mini reviews! My goal is to revisit my General Catalog scents. I feel like I'm neglecting them..

PERFUME: JEZEBEL

COMPANY: BPAL

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION:Biblical witch, priestess of Astarte, and general troublemaker. A true role model for today's upwardly mobile Modern Woman. A gloriously decadent blend of honey, roses, orange blossom and sandalwood.

BEFORE I SMELL: Biblical witch and priestess? I love witch themed blends!

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: Sweet and powdery honey. It reminds me the one in Womb Furie. A hint of orange blossom.

WET ON SKIN: Honey and fresh blossoms! The rose isn't overpowering and the orange blossoms give a note of acidity. Like if there was a hint of orange.

Definitely feminine and old fashion I don't think it is for someone who hate powdery scents or honey.

DRY DOWN: It has amazing staying power more than 8 hours on me. The sandalwood comes out more as a base note. It's very sexy ladies. This is one to wear if you want to seduce someone. It would be an amazing bedroom perfume. No wonder why Bpal has listed this one under the Love Potions category!

FINAL THOUGHTS: I need a bottle!

HALLOWEEN PERFUMES! Pumpkin Face Down In the Gutter

PERFUME:Pumpkin Face Down in the Gutter

COMPANY: Possets

AVAILABILITY: Past Halloween limited edition. I think 2011

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION:Has the pumpkin landed face down in the gutter? Has he reached rock bottom? Judging from the smell of him, he is in deep deep trouble. Pumpkin, black pepper, black cinnamon, sandalwood, tomato leaf. yes, he is beyond the help of any programs no matter how well meaning. He is one of The Beautiful and The Damned.

BEFORE I SMELL: A dirty pumpkin! I am in:)

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: This is atmospheric and very autumnal from the imp. Dirt, tomato leaf, spices and warm pumpkin. The cinnamon is the strongest note but it isn't the foody kind.

WET ON SKIN: Fresh pumpkin flesh and pepper. The tomato leaf it's a beautiful note and very unique with pumpkin. I get the sandalwood too. Actually, I am getting all the notes listed!

DRY DOWN:The spices calm down and I am left with pumpkin and sandalwood. Sometimes this blend can be overpowering to me so I put just a little bit. I love it especially when the weather is starts to chill and it feels like the rain will start in any minute. The scent of the real earth combined with the scent of this perfume it's magical!

FINAL THOUGHTS: I think my poppet is enough for now because I am wearing this for the experience the most. From the other hand, if they have a Retour again and I can afford it I may buy a bottle because it's aging amazing too.

AVAILABILITY:Original released in Halloween 2011 and has been re-released with the current Halloween update.

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION:White sandalwood, tobacco flower, lily of the valley, white carnation, and magnolia blossom with tea rose, labdanum, and oudh.

BEFORE I SMELL: Again the pretty poem made me wanting to try this! I come to the conclusion that the 50% of the reasons why I want to try something is the description and the perfume's name.. Especially if it's a piece of literature that I love. I have to work on that.

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: A bunch of different florals: Roses, carnations, lily of the valley and magnolia. I get rose the most and it's pretty!

The rose has a hint of lemon which is rounded by the sweetness and the creaminess of the magnolia.

WET ON SKIN: Now I get the resins but they are light.

They go very well with the flowers.
 It's clean and perfumy. I would say that is a little bit similar to Le renevant or at least they belong to the same family. I like this better because it doesn't have that green aspect or that powdery note.

I also smell the the tobacco flower and it's kinf of similar to the tobacco flower perfume from the Body Shop that they had years back.

DRY DOWN: Fresh roses complimented by the other flowers especially lily of the valley and magnolia.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Not a bottle purchase but a beautiful rose scent indeed.

HALLOWEEN PERFUMES-LE REVENANT/ BPAL

The Halloween BPAL update is LIVE!!!! I need almost 10 of them but I have to wait till I win the lottery lol!!

Thankfully these will stay up until December so, we have a little more time to save up.

Reading the whole update I noticed that I already have some of these scents and I thought to retest them.

PERFUME:LE REVENANT 2011

COMPANY: BPAL

AVAILABILITY: Halloween limited edition, original in 2011 but it has been re-released this year so you can find it at the Bpal site until December!

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION:A shroud of gardenia, narcissus, and sandalwood with ambrette seed, white cognac, muguet, davana, and white musk

BEFORE I SMELL: I see Baudelaire and white florals and my mind goes WANT NOW. That unfortunately doesn't always mean that the scent will  work on me...

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: From the imp this one it's very elegant and feminine. Reminds me the women I see sometimes all dressed up and then they come by this is the perfume that you aspect them to wear. Floral and a little bit soapy.

WET ON SKIN: The muguet it's the most obvious note. I also get something green maybe it's the narcissus and the davana. This gardenia note, it's similar to the one Arcana use's in the Moonflower's bliss perfume. It's greener and sharper than the actual flower.

DRY DOWN: This one doesn't have a good staying power on me neither a good silage. After 3 hours it's almost gone. The dry down is musky sandalwood with a hind of white floral.

FINAL THOUGHTS: If you are looking for something to smell like Chanel or another conventional perfume, I think this is for you. It's very nice and if you work in an office or with other people and you need something that most people like and find it inoffensive, this is the one because it's light and stays close to the skin.

As for me, I've already have musky white florals so I don't need a full bottle of this.

The Field of Reeds-Possets

PERFUME: The field of Reeds

COMPANY: Possets

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION: Relief and relaxation, paradise Egyptian style. Sweet sandalwood and two ambers, a touch of wood for reeds, and a kiss of golden musk, black pepper married with a drop of labdanum and this conjures the eternal happy golden light in which the elect must have bathed every day. A smooth and resinous sweet blend but with enough of the spice kick of a modern perfume to escape being downright primative.

BEFORE I SMELL: The scent of Aaru the Heaven for the Ancient Egyptians. Filled with Reeds which are something like papyrus if I am not mistaken.

This poppet was sent to me as a freeby. Black pepper doesn't always work for me but I am wondering how reeds smell and how Heavenly this is.

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: Black pepper, lots of resins and something slightly medicinal.

WET ON SKIN: The black pepper is very well blended and it doesn't overpower the blend so fear not! The labdanum and the sandalwood are the stars of the show. It's not a green scent, at least on me. It's very woody, unisex and resinous.

DRY DOWN: The musks and the woods are so beautiful when the black pepper eventually goes away. It's almost like this one has a drop of vanilla in it.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Full bottle without a question!

Calligraphy Practice- Bpal

PERFUME: Calligraphy Practice

COMPANY: BPAL

AVAILABILITY: Limited Edition 2012 (Novel Ideas for Secret Amusements V (1/19/12 - 4/30/12)

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION: White sandalwood, beeswax, clary sage, olibanum, opoponax, violet leaf, and oudh.

BEFORE I SMELL: This perfume didn’t really grab me from the notes listed.  I love beeswax and oudh thought.

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: Clary Sage is the strongest note.

WET ON SKIN: Clary sage but now it’s more perfumy.  The resins and the sandalwood give this a deep and clean vibe at the same time.

DRY DOWN: Unfortunately, the resins are now taking over. I really liked the top notes…

The beeswax it’s not a strong, it is used for it’s sweetness I suppose.

FINAL THOUGHTS: It’s nice but not that unique as other bpal scents

Scent of the Day, Day 13

PERFUME: Dervish

COMPANY: The Goth Rosary (www.gothrosary.com)

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION: "Mysterious, Enchanting. smell the rich blend of ancient spices. Earthy musk, Soulful sandalwood & Velvety vanilla beans!"

BEFORE I SMELL:  Some years ago, while I was in Istanbul, I visited a monastery. Part of the ceremony  was the dervish’s dance. I wanted to watch the real one and not the touristic one which is more of a show. This experience was on of the most unique I had not only for the dance itself but for the ambience of the place, the rituals and the reactions of the people. As a tourist I was at the background but close enough to observe everything.  I love to explore different culture’s than mine! I ordered this sample because of this experience, I was looking for an incense and meditative scent!

FROM THE DECANT/BOTTLE: Incense!

WET ON SKIN: Rich incense and sandalwood

DRY DOWN: It’s not a vanilla dominant blend but I get a hint.  It’s almost all incense  to me but a good quality one!

FINAL THOUGHTS: It totally lives up to my expectations!
